We’re excited to introduce Harold O’Neal as our performing artist for Vinyasa Vibes™ IV, an exclusive class and event taking place at Reebok Sports Club/NY on Saturday, May 17. In the class, participants will be guided through a 75-minute blissful yoga journey as Harold enhances the experience with live piano music.
Harold’s solo piano compositions are a blend of early 20th-century American music and impressionist music by French composers from the same era, making his music a perfect match for a Vinyasa class. His most recent album is titled Marvelous Fantasy. We sat down with Harold and asked him what we can expect from his music during the exclusive event.
What aspects of your music make it a perfect fit for the Vinyasa Vibes class?
Harold: My music is inspired by great film scores and soundtracks. I approach it as if I’m composing the soundtrack to their movements. Even though it has a wide range of dynamics, it’s very sensitive and delicate with powerful transitions.
How do you think your music will enhance the class?
Harold: Given that my music is very visual, it can provide a vehicle for the listener to paint a picture within themselves to assist their movements and transitions.
Do you practice yoga? How do you stay in shape?
Harold: I do practice yoga, but not daily. I've been practicing and training in martial arts for almost 20 years now and have been a teacher for quite awhile. That, along with my dance training, helps me to stay healthy!
Vinyasa Vibes™ is a unique series of signature events that launched at Sports Club/LA and Reebok Sports Club/NY in 2011. These specially designed Vinyasa yoga classes flow with the beautiful music of talented artists, such as six-time GRAMMY® NOMINEE Dave Koz and GRAMMY® winning artist Lalah Hathaway. We’re delighted to have Harold O’Neal be part of the series. For more information on the upcoming event, click here.
